Lizzi Kew Ross and Co Dramaturgy Workshops:
Thursday 1 & Friday 2 May, 1030 – 1630 OR
Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 May, 1030 – 1630 Omnibus Clapham, 1 Northside (The Old Library), Clapham Common, SW4 0QW Think Dramaturgy works from two understandings - that dramaturgy exists in every performance piece, irrespective of whether a dramaturg is on board or needed; and it could be said that dramaturgy dissolves into a production, hence at its best is invisible. Part of the aim of Think Dramaturgy is to make this visible. Think Dramaturgy is for dramaturgs, choreographers and theatre-makers. Mary Ann Hushlak, dramaturg on Reading with Bach and President of the dramaturgs’ network (d’n), will lead the workshop. Cost: £130 The workshop will include: Day One: “What Exactly?” “What Exactly?” outlines fundamentals of a dramaturgy process and sets out a hands-on approach to the all-important first meeting between choreographer or theatre-maker and dramaturg. Day Two: “Zeroing In” With “Zeroing In”, the workshop moves to studio practice. It allows for participants to investigate the core dramaturgy skill of how we look and it draws on Reading with Bach as a case study, in particular the strands of this piece and pieces.
